Applicable Plans - eApps Cloud Hosting Plans (eApps templates only)User Guide - Installing and Managing Applications in the eApps Control PanelOverviewThe operating system template that was chosen to create the system has all the necessary core applications. Depending on the template that was chosen, additional applications may also be installed, such as Java, Tomcat or GlassFish. Using the Control Panel, you can also install other applications, remove applications, and update existing applications. NOTE - in this User Guide, the terms “package” and “application” are generally used interchangeably. For more information on how to access the Control Panel, see the User Guide - Using the Control Panel http://support.eapps.com/control_panel_eapps/control_panel Installing and Removing eApps Supported Applications Installing and Removing Non-Supported Applications Installing and Removing eApps Supported ApplicationsFrom the main Control Panel screen, click on the Applications icon This takes you to the main Applications screen, which lists all the eApps supported Installed Applications and Available Applications. NOTE - only eApps supported applications will show in this screen. These are the only applications that will have free support from eApps. Since you have root access to your systems, you can install any applications you wish that will run in the operating system environment. However, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance and security of these applications. Any assistance requested from eApp Support for an application you have installed yourself will be billable at our standard rate of $90 an hour. Installing eApps ApplicationsTo install an application, click on the name of the application you wish to install under Available Applications. This takes you to the Manage Applications page, which shows the Package Details:
Click on Install eApps Group to install the listed packages. This does a “yum groupinstall” to install the application and any related dependencies from the eApps applications repositories. When the installation is completed, you will see a message similar to the following: To return to the main Applications menu, click on Return to Applications at the bottom of the screen. This will show the newly installed application in the Installed Applications list. Removing eApps ApplicationsTo remove an application, click on the name of the application in the Installed Applications list. There will be a button for Remove eApps Group. Click that button, which does a “yum groupremove”, and removes the application and the dependencies from the system. When the removal is complete, you will see a message similar to the following: Return to the main Applications menu by clicking on Return to Applications at the bottom of the screen. This will show that the application is no longer in the Installed Applications list. Updating eApps ApplicationsIf there are updates available for any eApps supported applications, there will be a link to the right of the application description that says Update. Click on that link to update the package. Keeping your applications updated is one way to help make sure that your system is not vulnerable to hackers or malicious software.
